From the dataset abstract

The electoral districts of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area is an map published by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa, describing the voting districts approved by the central election committees, the City Councils and the City boards. The map of electoral districts shows the boundaries of the areas and some attributes related to them.

When using the data, it must be taken into account that the electoral districts and their identifiers and names may vary from year to year. The map as such can only be applied to statistics on election results for certain year.

The recommended scale for the use of the data is 1:10,000.

The data is maintained by the City Survey Services of Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa. The data is combined and published by the City Survey Services of Helsinki.

Electoral districts for 2024

The zip package “2024” is available in Mapinfo TAB, SHP and Geopackage formats. The coordinate system of the data is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879). The division of electoral districts in Helsinki has also been published in WFS and WMS APIs. More information below.

The data includes, for example, the location and identifier of the electoral district as well as the name and address of the polling station. You can check the detailed description in in the description (in Finnish).

The division of electoral districts is the same as in 2023.

Electoral districts for 2023

The zip package “2023” is available in Mapinfo TAB, SHP and Geopackage formats. The coordinate system of the data is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879). The division of electoral districts in Helsinki has also been published in WFS and WMS APIs. More information below.

The data includes, for example, the location and identifier of the electoral district as well as the name and address of the polling station. For Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, the division of electoral districts is the same as in 2021-22. For Helsinki, some changes have been made in 2023.

The division of electoral districts is the same in the municipal elections of 2021 and the county elections of 2022 (excl. Helsinki).

Electoral districts for 2019

The zip package “2019” is available in Mapinfo TAB, KML, SHP and Geopackage formats. The coordinate system of the material is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879), with the exception of the KML file WGS 84 (EPSG:4326). Compared to the electoral district divisions of previous years, small changes have occurred in the division of electoral districts in Helsinki. No changes have been made to the areas of Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen.

The data includes, for example, the location and identifier of the voting area as well as the name and address of the polling station. You can check the detailed description in the zip package.

Division of electoral districts for the 2018 elections. No changes have been made to the division of electoral districts for 2018 compared to 2017.
